In Liège we find the family name as Painsmay(e) in he 18th century. They were boatman and fisherman travelling on the Meuse from Namur/Dinant, Belgium to Roermond, Holland above Liège. Known in local history is Guillaume Pinsmay as "le jeune Painsmaye" who died 7 october 1789 as a result of the troubles of a French revolution in Liège with only one victim in this authumn

The publication of an etching (ets-Nl, estampe-î) "Mausolée de Pinsmay" made by Joseph Dreppe was announced in "la Gazette de Liège" of the 9th and 13th november 1789.

"Ici repose Guillaume Pinsmay né à Liège. Voilontaire de la cavalerie patriotiq (sic). Qui, surpris par la trahison, accablé par la force, succomba le 7 octobre 1789 à l'âge de 21 ans et mourut à son poste en soldat citoyen."
